My New NO Sew Window Treatments

I have been home with nothing but time on my hands lately - waiting for interviews to come calling....
Well with all this time I thought I better make myself useful and finish some projects that I have been needing wanting to do.
I FINALLY completed my back door window treatments!! (it has only been 5 years in the making!)
You will never believe what I made them out of - a painters drop cloth!!!  Of course a clean new one...
And they are totally NO SEW!!
I saw one sort of like this on one of the blogs that I stalk read regularly.   I of course tweeked it a little to make it mine!

Here is the BEFORE (nice cooler on the deck huh??)

Then I took the drop cloth and cut it to size of my windows

Then I got out the awesome Heat and Bond and started putting it on the edge.
I am sure most of you have used Heat and Bond - first you use a HOT iron and for 2 sec with paper side up - iron it on the material, then once completely COOLED
Remove the paper and then fold over and iron the other side of fabric to the Heat and Bond - this time however - it is for 8-10 seconds with a HOT iron.

SO then I used Heat and Bond and made a pattern with some LIME GREEN - ORANGE and BROWN grossgrain ribbon. So far so good!

Then I made the Hubs hang the new hardware for the door- he LOVES it when he can use his power tools!!

And now WHAAAA LAAAA the AFTER!!!  drum roll please!!

I am LOVING THEM!!!  It was 5 years in the making - and 2 hours to complete! And only 30 bucks total to do!!  since I have to be cheap now - but I can do it - cheap and cute!!

EXCELLET and EASIEST Taco Soup Recipe EVER!

SO about a month ago the Hub's made dinner - while bored at home one day he got looking through this cook book.
We have the Cake Doctor books and HIGHLY recommend them - We really had never gone through this Dinner Doctor book. Well the Hub's was bored and reading through and found this AMAZING Taco Soup recipe, and the best this it is so quick and easy!!

I made it tonight for dinner - and thought I should share!

1 can of Rotel - tomato and chilis together - I use Western Family Brand
1 can of black beans - dont drain leave the liquid!
1 can of corn - same thing here dont drain them!
2 small 8oz. cans of tomato sauce
1 package of lower sodium taco seasoning
1 cube of beef bullion
1 lb of hamburger
onion and garlic to taste
a small avocado chopped
cilantro chopped
shredded cheese
sour cream
lime cut in wedges

Brown the Hamburger - adding the onion and garlic while browning - Once the burger is browned - add the cans of Rotel - Corn - Beans - tomato sauce - and THEN 3 cans of water using the corn can - (like the way I measure) - add the beef bullion and the package of taco seasoning. Stir together and cook for 20 minutes.
Now right before serving - add chopped avocados - a dollup of sour cream -shredded cheese to taste - and cilantro to your liking. Then top it off with the juice from the lime wedge!!
We like to eat it with a handful of Tortilla Chips!!

MOST DELICIOUS!!!!   MOST EXCELLENT!!   and SUPER DUPER FAST TO MAKE!!

I found a new lunch place!! DELICIOUS I must say!!

This morning I needed to go into SLC and pick up my new glasses that had been in for 2 weeks! UGH! (there has been so much going on I kept forgetting them)

So my Mom and I headed in... after getting my glasses picked up we headed up Ft Union to the Down East Outlet store - BUST for me... I am too fat for their clothes.... and the furniture really wasn't that great of a deal. There wasn't even stuff that I could bring home and re-finish. (I guess it was the wrong day, because some of the blogs that I stalk read, they find killer deals).

Then we headed down 90th south to Hobby Lobby....

      I heart Hobby Lobby!!!

I found some adorable knobs that will go on my new laundry room cabinets!!

We then headed home - as we were passing Valley Fair Mall - my Mom says have you ever had Cafe Zupas... I said no but do you want to try it..... I quickly got off the freeway and we headed over.

Cafe Zupas is a soup/salad/sandwich place - THE MOST AWESOME SOUP/SALAD/SANDWICH PLACE!!!

I had the Pina Colada Salad with the Chicken Enchilada Chili...mmmm!

Here is the LINK to their website... check out the menu!
It smelled so good.. and the best part....

Wait for it.....

they give everyone a CHOCOLATE COVERED STRAWBERRY!!!  FREE!!!

To enjoy after your soup/salad/sandwich!!!!   FREE I tell you!!!

I cannot wait to go back and try more salads and soups!!  There are so many to choose from!!

This year is the BIG one

2 years ago on Facebook... I started watching all my friends that were seniors when I was a sophomore turn the big FOUR-OH!! I just laughed snickered and said to myself - I cant believe that they are FORTY!.... Then I watched my next group of friends turn FORTY... once again I just snickered.

Then while I was on Facebook on Thursday morning, I hit the little tab that tells me who's birthdays are this week. It hit me hard....really hard!

One of my  friends, Sharon -  it is her birthday this week. Sharon is one of my oldest childhood friends. There were 4 of us total - ME, Sharon, Julie and Kristine. We all went to Whittier Elementary together, we all were in Primary together in the Hunter 1st ward. I remember starting school in first grade sitting next to Sharon in class...

Can you tell why it is hitting me so hard!!

The friends that I have known for 34 years a long long long time are turning the big FOUR-OH!

I never ever - in a million trillion years thought that I would ever be FORTY!

It still seems like it is sooo far away.. but it is not - it is knocking on my door, rather hard!

It really has not effected me till now! It is hard to believe that my little group of friends, back in my Moms primary class, back in that old Whittier Elementary are at such a milestone in our lives.

UUGGH!

If you dont feel like FORTY are you really and truly FORTY ???

My NEW Favorite Dinner Idea!!

I don't know if you have heard the radio commercials or not... from Macey's - the CROCK TALK!!

I LOVE LOVE LOVE these things!! Each Wednesday the wonderful people of Macey's come out with a new meal - and I must say they are delicious!! It is very simple to do and it is a killer deal!!
When you first walk into the store, you get your cart - then right there magically is a brown paper bag and all that you need for your meal!! Each week it varies from 14 bucks to 20 bucks. You simply put all the ingredients in the brown paper bag that they provide - everything in that bag is the said price of the week!!!
It is a HUGE savings!! The meat alone is normally the price of all the other stuff that you put in the bag! Now you don't have to do what they say - but HEY - you get all the ingredients for the week at the set cost!
This weeks meal - Crock Talk Chuck Roast - this week you get in the brown paper bag - a 4-5lb roast -Hidden Valley dry ranch packet - Dry Italian packet - Onion soup packet - 2 (yes that's right 2) mashed potato packets - A bag of salad - and a package of rolls from the bakery.

This week it was 18 bucks - if I would have bought it all separate and not in my brown bag it would have been about 30 bucks total.

Have I mentioned they are delicious!! You must try them! Here is a link to the old recipes that they have I highly recommend the Pork Barbacoa!! mmmmmmm nummy !!
