Baseball - the greatest American sport there is!

Well, Baseball season has officially started. Here in Grantsville and with the pro's. Opening day is tomorrow for the big boy's. Anyone who knows me knows that I LOVE BASEBALL! I really don't know why I love it, I just do.
I started playing Bonnett Ball at age 8, with my dad coaching me. I stopped when I was 12 I really don't know why I stopped, other than my mom said I acted like a boy out on the field. I dont think that I do, I play and I play hard. But then started back up on a Co-ed softball team at 20. It wasnt until these last 2 years that I have stopped playing with them. Up until the last 2 seasons, I only missed 2 seasons, when I was pregnant with Ryan and Aynsley. I haven't played the last 2 years because it just so happens that Ryan's baseball games ended up being on the same night as mine, and well as you know, your kids kinda take priority.
My love of baseball, I think comes from my Dad. Although everyone of us from my Mom, my sister, and my brother love the game. I have to say though, my sister and brother love the WRONG team, but because of their love of the sport I will forgive them.
I love baseball because of the skills that you have to have to play. You have to have accuracy in throwing, you have to accuracy on hitting. It may not be the most physical sport, its kinda like golf, its MENTAL. There are so many factors that the other team can do, you have to look ahead, are they going to steal, bunt, etc etc.... what pitch should we throw, whats the count, what pitch would work the best. I love that!
Today's players have some of the best skill that I have seen in a long time, however I think that money and greed get in the way of their love of the game. I wonder though if they really could compete with the players of the past. Some of my favorite players have to be, Nolan Ryan, Mike Piazza, Mike Scioscia, Dale Murphy, Ken Griffey Jr, Mark McGuire, Curt Schilling, Babe Ruth, Lou Gehrig, Cal Ripkin, Pete Rose, Mike Schmidt, Kirk Gibson, Greg Maddux, Kirby Puckett, Orel Hershiser, Chipper Jones, Steve Garvey, Tug McGraw, and of course Scott Eyre, since I went to school with him and watched him before he was a big league relief pitcher! My favorite teams are the Dodgers and the Angels! Greatest baseball movies, The Sandlot, Bull Durham, Field of Dreams, and Angels in the Outfield.
I love baseball, I love this time of year, I love watching Ryan play! I love that he loves baseball almost as much as me! I am glad that Leo loves baseball too, it would really suck if you had a spouse that didn't love baseball!!!
